It’s not surprising that certain games purposefully limit the maximum graphics level that the user could set. However, it becomes an issue when the device you’re playing on is more than capable of handling the maximum graphics level, even though the developers didn’t think so. Unfortunately, Dead Trigger 2 is a perfect example of this scenario. Fortunately, with a little file modification you can enable the secret “ultra” graphics mode only accessible to latest generation iPhones and Tegra devices. You will need to have a rooted Android device in order to do this.
What You Will Need:
- A rooted Android Device
- ES File Explorer
- Dead Trigger 2
Step 1: Graphics Setting
Before you do anything, launch Dead Trigger 2 and set the graphics level to high.
Step 2: Force Stop the App
Next, you will need to make sure the app is completely closed down before you start modding. To force close, go into the settings – apps – Dead Trigger 2 and force stop the app.
Step 3: Enable Root Explorer in ES File Explorer
You need to enable root so that you can navigate to the data folder.
Step 4: Open XML File
Now navigate to /data/data/com.madfingergames.deadtrigger2/shared_prefs/ folder and open the com.madfingergames.deadtrigger2.xml file. Use the ES note editor.
Step 5: Changing Values
Now change the following values. Change the Unity Graphics Detail to 3 and the Options Graphic Detail to 3. Then save it. (Hit the back arrow in the top left hand corner).
Step 6: Changing Permissions
You’re almost done. The last thing to do is change the permissions on the file. Select it, then go down to properties. Remove all the write permissions. That way, the game won’t try to revert the setting.
Step 7: Now Play
That’s it! Now when you go to your game, you will not see Ultra High Graphics option in the setting menu, however the game will be running at ultra high graphic detail. You should be easily able to tell by the added textures and reflections. There you have it, ultra high graphics Dead Trigger 2.
